While everyone at FireDrums is responsible for their own safety by having a designated spotter, there are additional SAFETY VOLUNTEERS on duty helping to ensure the safety of the event as a whole. If you would like to volunteer please check out the calendar for open safety shifts:

In addition, before helping out, each volunteer must join us for one of the FIRE SAFETY MEETINGS held at the fuel dump every day at sundown (approx. 7PM).

Please Note: This is a volunteer position. You still need a ticket to attend FireDrums!

• 1. FIRST AND FORE-MOST NO SMOKING OR OPEN FLAMES ANYWHERE NEAR THE FUEL STORAGE AREA ! ! ! ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS ! ! !
  
  
• 2. It is the performer's responsibility to obtain a safety spotter. Do not spin fire with
  out a safety. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.
  
  
• 3. If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, for the safety of yourself and
  others do not play with fire in any way, shape, or fashion.
  
  
• 4. Keep ALL fuel in the designated Fuel Dump area. Do your part to keep things
  organized by placing fuel not actively being used into the metal storage containers and
  do not leave tools unattended.
  
  
• 5. Do not alter or use another performers personal fuel mixture without express
  consent. Public dip cans for lamp oil, white gas, and 50/50 will be available. A mixture
  area will be set aside for containers clearly labeled as special fuel.
  
  
• 6. Appropriate fuels include lighter fluid, white gas, isopropyl alcohol, denatured
  alcohol, and lamp oil. NEVER EVER use automotive gasoline (aka Petrol).
  
  
• 7. Chemical salts such as Boric Acid mixed with fuels to obtain colored flame
  should NEVER be used on eating torches as they are extremely toxic.
  
  
• 8. Check and tighten equipment prior to receiving flame to prevent unwanted
  flaming projectiles. Another performers tools may be used only upon express consent.
  
  
• 9. Wear natural fibers such as cotton, silk, or hemp. Additionally do not perform
  with gel, hairspray, etc. in your hair. If the material contains an alcohol then your hair
  becomes extremely combustible after application. Eek!
  
  
• 10. Use the provided spin out cans to remove excess fuel. Remember that once fuel
  soaks into the ground the ability of that environment to survive has been comprised
